Comprehensively and following European standards: 16 thousand residents of Ukrayinka will get services of better qualities in municipal buildings

The town of Ukrayinka (Kyiv region) has reduced energy resources consumption over a year by 20%. This has become possible thanks to the installed automated energy resources monitoring system that helps quickly identify overspending and emergencies, removes human factor in primary data collection.

The system has been installed in all municipal buildings within the project “Energy Resources Monitoring and Thermal Refurbishment of Buildings Using Renewable Energies in the Town of Ukrayinka”, implemented by the town with the support of the European Union.

Total project cost equals 1,078,185 Euros, 75% of which – 808,640 Eurosis a nonrefundable EU grant, while the rest is the money from the town budget.

The project also intends to complete comprehensive refurbishment of a sports complex and the Palace of Culture “Enerhetyk” – municipal buildings where the largest energy losses have been detected.

Sports complex refurbishment has already been completed: the roof has been repaired, the building plinth has been insulated, new windows and a new entrance group have been installed, heating system has been reconstructed, the façade has been insulated and painted. A solar collector will soon be installed on the roof, and it will provide the sports complex with hot water.

Currently, thermal refurbishment works are being performed in the Palace of Culture “Enerhetyk”. Windows and the entrance group have already been replaced here, an individual heat exchange unit has been installed, a heating system has been reconstructed. Now the roof is being repaired, the façade and plinth of the building are being insulated and painted. After the roof repairs in the Palace of Culture is completed, solar panels will be installed on it, and they will produce electricity for this facility.

All these activities will enable to save up to 20% of the town budget annually and to reduce the amount of energy consumed by 40% annually. According to preliminary estimates, as the result of the whole project implementation СО2 emission will go down by 530 tons a year, and this is the amount that could be achieved through the rejection of 339 new cars annually.

On July 15 the support team invited over ten general Ukrainian, regional, and local editions to Ukrayinka to tell mass media representatives about the project, the results already achieved.

Deputy Town Mayor of Ukrayinka Ruslan Sadovskyi, CoM-DeP Support Team leader Jan Waanders, technical expert of the CoM-DeP Support Team Dmytro Ivanenko, project manager Olha Levshunova told the guests about the project.
