On October 2-8 the Sustainable Energy Week was held in the town of Hnivan, and it is already for the fourth time that it is held within the framework of the demonstration project “Energy Efficient Hnivan – Energy Policy for the Sustainable Development of the Town of Hnivan”.

The project is funded by the European Union within the framework of the EU4Energy initiative and the Program “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects” (CoM-DeP). The project is being implemented by Hnivan Town Council in partnership with the NGO “Euroregion “Dniester”.

The Sustainable Energy Week was traditionally opened together with the celebration of Town Day. The column of the bike ride participants, headed by the town mayor Volodymyr Kuleshov, made a bike trip along the town streets with a total mileage of some 10 km. All the bike ride participants took part in the evening valuable prize drawing, the main of which was a modern sports bicycle. The youngest bike ride participant was a 4-year-old Matviy who bravely covered a part of the bike ride itinerary, being accompanied by his parents, and the oldest participant was pensioner Vira.

The celebrations continued with a solemn opening ceremony and welcoming speeches delivered by the town mayor and invited guests from Ukraine and Moldova. During the solemn concert, the community was welcomed with songs and dances by creative groups and artists of the Hnivan community as well as specially invited guests – cover band “Pulsar”.
